Stuart Siegel has been very active during 2007 and 2008 in ecosystem restoration planning for the California Delta. Governor Schwarzenegger's Delta Vision effort named him the techincal lead for its Ecosystem Work Group. In late 2007, WWR prepared an initial report identifying a range of near-term ecosystem restoration activities in the Delta. In 2008, Dr. Siegel has worked with the many participants of the Ecosystem Work Group to develop a suite of recommendations for recovering the Delta ecosystem. Dr. Siegel has also made several presentations before the Delta Vision Blue Ribbon Task Force. See Delta Vision project description. Dr. Siegel has also been participating on the Bay-Delta Conservation Plan's Habitat Technical Team and Habitat and Operations Technical Team on behalf of CALFED. See BDCP project description.
We received a grant from the State Water Resources Control Board in October 2006 to evaluate land use practices in the managed wetlands of intended to reduce blackwater discharge into the tidal sloughs of Suisun Marsh, in an effort to reduce impacts to estuarine fish and water quality. WWR is leading this collaboration of individual managed wetland land owners, Suisun Resource Conservation District, U.S. Geological Survey, Department of Water Resources, U.C. Davis, and the Department of Fish and Game's Moss Landing Marine Laboratory. Work will begin for the fall 2007 flood up and complete in 2009.
We celebrated our 10th anniversary in March
2006. Over these ten years we have grown from a one-person operation to
a few staff in Stuart's basement office to several staff in our downtown San
Rafael offices. We are very thankful to all our clients and colleagues throughout
the Bay Area, California, and beyond that have been a part of these times,
and we look forward to many more years of working together. Visit our Projects
page to get a sense of the many projects that have built our portfolio over
these years. Visit our Staff page to see the many people that make up our
staff and our key collaborators that make all this work possible. And visit
our Services page to see the range of services we now provide.
