Integrated Regional Wetlands Monitoring

Wetland and Water Resources' Dr. Stuart Siegel is the Lead Principal Investigator and WWR is part of the Physical Processes and Landscape Ecology teams for the CALFED Science Program-funded Integrated Regional Wetland Monitoring (IRWM) Pilot Project. Begun in fall 2003, this wetland science project will collect monitoring data at four restored and two natural tidal wetlands, stretching from the Petaluma River east to the west Delta (see Site Locations Vicinity Map). IRWM will use these data to evaluate the role of tidal marsh restoration in affecting ecosystem processes at various spatial and temporal scales. IRWM will also be helping to develop field and analytical protocols for monitoring tidal marsh restoration projects.
